The misconception about public libraries is that much of our funding comes from self-generated funds. WE raise the money. Last week, a gentleman called the library, very upset that we weren't open on Memorial Day. In his opinion, since his township was "paying for the library," we should be available when he needs us.
I explained to him that he does not understand our funding but he wouldn't listen. Finally, I told him that I would refund his local tax money to make him happy. He's stopping in next week to pick it up. I'll be all $3 in an envelope with a note that reads, "KEEP THE CHANGE."
